Good Luck Tahith Chong – A Family We’ll Never Forget

Everyone at Partridge Homes, the Award Winning Estate and Letting Agents for footballers would like to wish our former client, Tahith Chong, the very best of luck as he represents Curaçao at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. We have been fortunate enough to work with many professional footballers and their families over the years, but every now and again, certain experiences stay with you long after the keys have been handed back. Our time with Tahith and his family is one of those.

A Relocation That Meant More Than Most

We first had the pleasure of assisting Tahith and his parents when he joined Birmingham City on loan from Manchester United. From the very first meeting, the whole family were warm, humble and genuinely appreciative — the kind of people who make this work feel worthwhile.

Helping a young footballer and his family settle into a new city is always about more than finding the right property. It is about making sure they feel at home somewhere unfamiliar, often at short notice, and in a place where they may know very few people. With Tahith and his family, that process felt natural from the start.

A Moment That Will Stay With Us Forever

One memory, in particular, has never left us.

At the end of the season, as Tahith and his family were preparing to leave Birmingham, his mother, Izalda, mentioned that it would be her pleasure to meet my two sons, Alfie and Charlie. I explained that the boys were at school and that there was absolutely no need to wait — they were due to leave at 10am and the boys would not be back for hours.

They insisted on staying.

They waited until around 4pm — not because they had to, but because family meant that much to them. When the boys arrived home, Izalda and the family were still there, ready to say a proper goodbye.

To some, that might seem like a small thing. But moments like that reveal exactly the kind of people you are dealing with. Genuine, kind, and completely family-orientated. It is the sort of gesture that no amount of professionalism in this industry can manufacture — it simply comes from who you are.

From Birmingham to the World Stage

Tahith Chong was born on 4 December 1999 in Willemstad, Curaçao. He left the island aged eight to pursue his football education in Europe, eventually coming through the academy at Manchester United. He represented the Netherlands at youth level, from U15 through to U21, before committing his international future to the country of his birth.

His international debut for Curaçao came in September 2025. He came off the bench in a goalless draw against Trinidad and Tobago before scoring twice and adding an assist in a 3-2 win over Bermuda — a statement arrival on the international stage.

His club career has taken him through some well-known stops: Manchester United, Werder Bremen, Club Brugge, Birmingham City, Luton Town, and most recently Sheffield United, whom he joined in August 2025.

History in the Making for Curaçao

What Curaçao have achieved in reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup is genuinely extraordinary. With a population of just over 150,000 and a land area of 171 square miles, they are the smallest nation ever to qualify for a World Cup — surpassing Iceland’s previous record from 2018, when the Nordic country had a population of around 389,000.

Curaçao topped Group B in Concacaf qualifying, scoring 28 goals — the most of any team in the confederation’s qualifying campaign — and finishing with an expected goals figure of 22.7. Their final qualifying match, a 0-0 draw in Kingston, confirmed their place in history.

Head coach Dick Advocaat, 78, will lead the side at the tournament, making him the oldest manager in World Cup history.

Tahith Chong is the only Curaçao-born player in the squad, making his presence on that stage particularly meaningful.

Group E Fixtures

Curaçao have been drawn into Group E alongside Germany, Côte d’Ivoire, and Ecuador. Their fixtures are:

They are the first Concacaf debutants at a World Cup since Panama in 2018, and will be looking to become the first side from the confederation to advance from the group stage on their debut since Costa Rica at Italy 1990.

Pre-tournament preparations included a 4-1 defeat to Scotland in Glasgow — in which Chong scored the opener — and a 4-0 win over Aruba in a send-off match on home soil in Willemstad.

Proud to Have Played a Small Part

To now see Tahith representing Curaçao on football’s biggest stage is simply fantastic, and thoroughly deserved. The passion shown by Curaçao’s supporters throughout the qualifying campaign has captured the attention of football fans well beyond the Caribbean — and rightly so.

Everyone at Partridge Homes will be cheering Tahith and the entire Curaçao squad throughout the tournament. We are proud to have played even a small part in his journey, and we wish him, Izalda, and the whole family every success.

Good luck, Tahith. Enjoy every single moment — you have earned it.
