In the latest instalment of our Meet the Team series, we’re introducing Maizy Lynch. Maizy joined Partridge Homes Estate Agents in Yardley three years ago as an apprentice and has since worked her way through the sales department into a Senior Negotiator role, carrying out valuations and helping homeowners across Yardley, Sheldon and the surrounding areas.
We sat down with Maizy to hear about her journey into property, what she thinks makes the difference when you’re selling a home, and what she gets up to when she’s not at work.
How long have you been with Partridge Homes, and what were you doing before you joined?
I’ve been with Partridge Homes for three years as of September just gone. Before I joined, I was actually a hairdresser, so property was a completely different direction for me. I started here as an apprentice and have gradually worked my way through different roles within the sales side of the business.
You’ve made a big impression with clients since joining. What do you think people appreciate most about the way you look after them?
I think the most important thing is communication. People just want to know what’s going on. I always try to keep everyone informed and treat people how I would want to be treated if I was buying or selling a property myself.
Why do you think even a quick call to say you’ve chased something can make such a difference?
Because people can be sitting at home wondering what’s happening and sometimes they naturally start thinking the worst. Even if you haven’t got a firm update yet, just making that reassuring phone call to say you’ve chased the solicitor, buyer, seller or whoever you’re waiting on can make such a difference. It lets the client know that you haven’t forgotten about them and that you’re still working on their sale.
You grew up in the area. How does that help when working as an estate agent in Yardley and Sheldon?
It definitely helps because I genuinely know the area. I know the different roads, the local shops, transport links and the surrounding areas, so when I’m speaking to buyers I can talk about the area from personal experience. It’s much easier to sell somewhere when you’ve actually grown up there and understand what people like about living there. I think that local knowledge is really important when you’re working as an estate agent in Yardley or Sheldon because buyers often want much more than just information about the house itself.
What is your favourite part of working in property sales?
I genuinely enjoy all of it. I’ve worked my way up from being an apprentice and have now experienced the majority of the different roles within the sales department. Every part of it has taught me something, but I really enjoy going out and doing valuations now because I love meeting new people. You never know who you’re going to meet or what sort of property you’re going to walk into.
What is some of the nicest feedback you’ve received from clients?
The reviews are always really nice to read, especially when you’ve helped somebody all the way through their sale and then they take the time afterwards to leave a five-star review. We’ve also had clients bring gifts into the office for me. One client actually made me an entire cake, and I’ve had gift vouchers and other presents too. Nobody has to do any of that, so when somebody goes out of their way to show their appreciation it means a lot. I’m really grateful for it.

Are you different outside of work to how clients see you in the office?
Not really! I’d say I’m the same person inside and outside work. I’m approachable and friendly with everyone, and I think that’s important. I don’t think customer service should ever feel forced — it’s just about being yourself and treating people properly.
Tell us a little about life outside Partridge Homes.
My partner Kyle and I like doing lots of different things together. We enjoy going out for meals, although we’re equally happy staying at home and having a Chinese! We both love animals and we have three dogs, although they are definitely very naughty.

What would your perfect day off look like?
Probably shopping! I love clothes shopping, but I also really love home shopping and buying new things for the house.

What’s something clients might be surprised to learn about you?
Probably my age, a lot of people assume I’m older than I am. I’m not sure whether that’s because I look older or because of the way I carry myself, but people rarely believe me when I tell them my actual age.

Where do you see yourself over the next few years?
Personally, one of my biggest goals is to get onto the property ladder and buy my first home. Career-wise, I just want to keep progressing within Partridge Homes. I’ve already been given so many opportunities since starting as an apprentice, and I’m open to whatever comes next.
Watching Maizy progress from a young apprentice into a confident, trusted member of the sales team has been genuinely brilliant to see.
She already understands one of the most important parts of estate agency: people remember how you communicate with them, not just what you say when there’s news to share. Selling a home is one of the biggest and most stressful transactions most people go through. Sometimes there isn’t a major update to give. A simple phone call to say “I’ve chased it and I’m on it” can make an enormous difference to how a client feels about the process, and about the agent looking after them.
That approach explains why so many of Maizy’s clients take the time to leave five-star reviews, send messages and even bring gifts into the office. Her first-hand knowledge of Yardley, Sheldon and the surrounding areas is another real advantage: she knows these roads, these communities and these transport links from growing up here, not from reading a property listing.
Maizy has become a much-loved part of the Partridge Homes team, and we can’t wait to see where the next few years take her.
If you’re thinking of selling your home in Yardley, Sheldon or the surrounding Birmingham areas and would like advice from a genuinely local team, speak to us at Partridge Homes.

You can contact the Partridge Homes sales team directly through the website to arrange a valuation. A member of the team, including Maizy, will be happy to visit your property and talk you through the process.
Selling a home involves multiple parties, including solicitors, buyers and other agents, and delays at any stage can leave sellers feeling anxious and uncertain. Regular contact from your estate agent, even when there is no firm update to share, helps manage that uncertainty and keeps the process moving.
