Today is a huge day in the lives of young people, with hundreds of thousands of teenagers across the UK receiving their GCSE results.
The indications from today's reports are that A*- C Grades have seen the sharpest decline since the exams were launched, with Girls increasing their lead over boys to 8.9 per cent.
As a business, we are huge supporters of taking youngsters straight from school and offering them an apprenticeship. In fact, we try to take on a new Apprentice every 12-18 months as we genuinely like to give young people the chance to excel within the workplace.
The majority of the most successful people that I know did not go down the College/University route and in fact went into work straight from school. By the time they would have been through further education they already have 5 years + advantage of real life work experience and qualifications on their side!
Apprentices have the same opportunities as employees, earning a weekly wage, gaining nationally recognised qualifications and also getting to work alongside experienced staff, this to me ticks all the boxes that a youngster would need.
We are delighted to have received a call today asking for our current Apprentice to appear Live on Itv Central News tonight at 6pm. Becky will be talking about the benefits that she has found since joining Partridge Homes last September at the age of 16.
Well done Becky, we will all be very proud watching you make your TV Debut tonight on the evening before your 17th Birthday!
